A key factor in many learning struggles today is sequential auditory processing. This is the ability to hold a series of auditory pieces together in the same order for use in short and eventually long-term memory. When individuals struggle with sequential auditory processing, challenges are often seen with their ability to:
More and more parents are acknowledging that auditory processing disorder (APD) is real, but they still have a lot of misconceptions and confusion about what it really is and how it can be addressed. Brain Sprints, Auditory Processing Treatment strives to erase misinformation about APD and offer an effective solution for children diagnosed with the disorder.
Brain Sprints incorporates the Auditory Processing NeuroDevelopmental Approach to Life in Auditory Processing treatment services for children with symptoms of auditory processing disorder. From our in-home coaching to our on-site training in our Brain Sprint’s Center in Denton, Texas, we prioritize finding the root causes of the symptoms brought on by APD and create Auditory Processing Treatment solutions to eliminate them. Dr. Jan Bedell
Also known as central auditory processing disorder (CAPD), APD’s effects extend beyond hearing. In fact, this disorder is far from problems in hearing and has little to nothing to do with intelligence. Rather, the brain of a child with APD is having difficulty processing the sounds of words and holding sequential pieces of auditory information together. As a result, the child has trouble using and retaining auditory information. Among the most common symptoms of APD are remembering spoken instructions, following conversations or classroom discussions, listening to music, following multi-step directions, holding information in short-term memory to transfer to long-term memory, to name a few.
Another misconception about APD is that it stems from attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, autism, and other learning disabilities. In reality, the Auditory Processing disorder has increased dramatically with the many ways our society has moved from predominantly auditory activities to much more visual. Studies suggest that it could also be a result of ear infections, head trauma, premature birth, or could have hereditary roots. Regardless of the cause, what is important for parents is to make sure to address its symptoms right away before this inefficiency affects more areas in the child’s life.

Brain Sprints takes pride in the 25+ years we have spent developing, and consistently innovating the NeuroDevelopmental Approach for training children with dyscalculia and other learning disabilities. We are one of the very few companies in Texas to offer this type of customized service. We stand out even more because of our high level of dedication to help every child, regardless of their disability and struggles. That is why families come from all over the United States to receive services. The unique nature of Brain Sprints’ application of the NeuroDevelopmental Approach is that we take into consideration the whole child through the areas of sensory input (auditory, visual and tactile) and motor output (gross motor, fine motor and language). The child is evaluated in these 6 areas and tracked through 9 levels of development. An individualized brain training program is then crafted from our 1,000+ activity database. Instead of focusing on labels and limiting your child’s potential based on what an APD label dictates, we look at your child as an individual who has boundless potentials and untapped skills and talents. It is our job to help you and your child discover this way to a brighter future.

How do I get a Auditory Processing Test kit?
– You can easily request for your own FREE test kit from our website! The Auditory Processing Test kit is essential to determine the auditory short-term memory level of your child as well as other members of the family. Could you help my child diagnosed with auditory processing disorder improve in school?
– Struggling in school is the result or manifestation of the real, underlying challenges your child with APD is actually facing. For us to help improve your child’s academic performance, we first make sure to determine the “foundation problems” or root causes.
